IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Gaining access to Fort Lee can be a somewhat lengthy process depending on the traffic. We anticipate a high volume of visitors for the museum reopening so we recommend you plan adequate time for access so you don’t miss out on the celebration. Those possessing Common Access Cards (CAC), Military ID or Military Dependent IDs generally will not encounter delays. If you do not possess these types of identification, you will need to visit the Lee Gate Visitor Control Center for a background check and you must have a valid ID. It is strongly suggested you visit the following link on Fort Lee’s website to understand the process and what information is needed. Further, it is recommended you obtain a Visitor’s Pass for the duration of the Event (Nov 1 – 3). You can submit the following form to Fort Lee in advance to have your pass ready upon your arrival. We strongly urge you to read the information contained on Ft Lee’s site.
Excerpt from Ft Lee website: Effective 15 June 2015, anyone coming to Fort Lee, that does not have a federal government-issued identification card, will be subject to a background check before being allowed to enter the installation. These individuals will need to go to the Visitor Control Center (VCC) (Lee Gate) for a background check and an access pass, which can then be used at any gate. Those who show a common access card (CAC card), Military ID, Military Dependent ID, or a federal government-issued PIV won’t be affected.
All adults are required to possess valid ID. All juveniles without valid ID must be accompanied by an adult family member. Drivers must be able to show:
- Valid driver’s license
- Current vehicle registration
- Proof of current insurance
