CSM Mary Lee Gallery Dedication (Nov 3, 2018)
On Saturday, the museum dedicated the Command Sergeant Major Mary A Lee Gallery. Along with this dedication was a tribute to a WAC artist, Sergeant Ann B Tilson. Members of her family came to Fort Lee to participate in the events honoring her. Nineteen of Tilson’s paintings are exhibited in the CSM Mary A Lee Gallery and show personal glimpses of every day life of women serving overseas during WWII.
The CSM Mary Lee Gallery was officially dedicated on November 3, 2018. Prior FAWMA President, Pat Sigle, spoke to the crowd. She recalled their time serving together in the Army and how she valued CSM Lee’s advice and her ability to make things happen. CSM Lee was an inspiration to many people and was loved and respected by many. Sigle and CSM (Ret) Helen Johnston unveiled a plaque to dedicate the gallery.
Special thanks to Friedrich (Fred) Stein and Herb Greene for their time and photographic expertise in capturing the events on Friday and Saturday.
